January 13, 2024 Great Guana Cay

We left Green Turtle Cay and headed to No Name Cay, a few miles away. There is a coral reef park on the ocean side of the cay that we hope to explore. We anchored in some rough seas and still ventured ashore in the dinghy. No Nam Cay features 'Swimming with Pigs" and a large restaurant/bar. The pigs were curious about Caramel at first, then were a bit aggressive, Caramel barked at them, and one took after her nipping/biting. Suffice it to say I had to carry her to the fenced-in area to protect her from the pigs. We had a great lunch and then walked a bit around the island. The seas were such that there was no way to swim/snorkel. We spent the night at anchor and then left in the morning to travel to Great Guana Cay.

Again a day of motoring in >22kt winds to Settlement Harbour at Guana Cay. We hoped for one of the first come first served mooring balls and had a bit of a challenge (understatement!) getting hooked (see our track in the photo). We had help from two guys in a dinghy, one of whom (Captain Ron) we had met back in Coinjock, NC in November. Ron came back later to invite us to go ashore with he and his wife for dinner, which we glady did. What a beautiful place! Can't wait to explore more. We also got ot be a part of the island's Christmas festival that had been postponed due to weather - including the Christmas Tree Lighting.
