December 16, 2023 Brunswick GA

With St. Simons being a bust due to the winds, we left there midday to head to Brunswick Landing Marina. Its reputation is as 'the velcro marina" because once you are there you won't want to leave. That might be true. An hour after we arrived - and two VERY helpful staff helped us dock in significant wind - we were informed that Happy Hour was starting with free beer and wine. This event goes on three days a week and this one incuded ugly Christmas sweaters and potluck appetizers. What's not to like? We were freeloaders at this event as we had only been docked for a minute.

The marina is large, and we're a long way from the office but a short distance to the nearest facilities + showers + laundry. I went for a morning run, then we wandered the town today and made the obligatory visit to the West Marine. I added to my growing collection of fishing gear and paraphernalia - none of which has produced a fish yet BTW. We went early (doing the old people thing) to a (fully booked for dinner) local restaurant in town and had a fantastic dinner + happy hour prices on drinks. Again, what's not to like?

We're here until around 12/22-23 as we wait out the storm and crazy winds on the ocean.
